DynaMed LLC

Dynamic Medical Information Systems LLC (DynaMed), located right here in Columbia, was started by Brian S. Alper MD, MSPH as a database that would provide useful information for health care professionals at the point of care, and a mechanism that would allow the users of this database to help keep the information useful, accurate and up-to-date. DynaMed contains clinically organized summaries of nearly 1,800 topics and is updated daily from review of the research literature. This means that the reference information is always up-to-date and does not require new editions. DynaMed is a useful resource in clinical, educational and research settings. Unlike textbooks and other static sources of information, DynaMed is designed to keep abreast of and incorporate current developments; and to provide a platform for multiple users to communicate with each other and to contribute to the core set of medical knowledge. With the help of users contributing to the content and structure of the database, DynaMed can easily develop and adapt to provide for the needs of its users.

DynaMed recently received a Phase I, Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) to evaluate the feasibility of using its unique user interface to rapidly meet the information needs of today's clinicians. Click here to read the press release.
